We are pleased to announce the launch of a Joint Mentorship Program designed to support early career teachers through meaningful, collaborative partnerships with experienced educators. This initiative is a joint effort between School District 10 and ALTA to invest in the success, wellness, and growth of our teaching community.
About the Program:
This program pairs early career teachers (mentees) with experienced educators (mentors) to create a supportive, collegial environment for professional learning and personal growth.
Program Supports Include:
From the District:
- 2 Teacher-on-Call (TOC) Release Days each for both mentees and mentors
- Up to $500 (combined) reimbursement for classroom and teaching resources
From ALTA:
- 1 ALTA Release Day for union capacity building and teacher wellness
- Access to Pro-D Funds for any costs related to participation in the mentorship program
Shared Commitments:
- Mentees and mentors must attend 3 evening learning sessions (meals provided) focused on reflection, strategy sharing, and community building
- Regular mentor-mentee check-ins and ongoing collaboration throughout the year
Who Should Apply:
- Mentees: Teachers in their first five years of practice
- Mentors: Experienced educators who are enthusiastic about supporting new colleagues and building collective capacity
