MORNING SESSIONS (10:00-12:00):

Conflict is Inevitable… What can we do about it? Navigating Conflict with Clarity and Empathy – Keith Greenhalf Conflict is a natural part of life, but understanding the difference between taking positions and identifying interests can transform how we handle it. As educators, we often guide students through conflicts while also navigating challenges in our own professional and personal relationships. This workshop helps to equip participants with strategies and tools for managing conflict in healthy, productive ways. By fostering deeper understanding and resolution skills, you can enhance your teaching, strengthen professional connections, and improve personal interactions.

Tools and Strategies for Diagnosing and Advancing Mathematical Understanding – Biz Tupper Are you finding that your students have gaps in their mathematical understanding?  Learn how to use screeners, diagnostic assessments and frameworks to help your students move forward.

Exploring the Outdoors: Risk Management and Outdoor Environments in Education – Wesley Savill Discover how to create meaningful outdoor education experiences while prioritizing safety in outdoor environments. This session equips educators with strategies for assessing and managing risks, planning activities, and confidently guiding students through outdoor environments. Learn to balance adventure with responsibility to foster learning and exploration in nature.

Integrating Music Education in the Classroom – Tyler Kopp A collaborative session exploring curriculum, strategies and goals for incorporating and delivering music education in the classroom. Together we will unpack the K-7 music education content and share experiences as well as brainstorm goals and resources moving forward.

AFTERNOON SESSIONS (1:00 – 3:00):

Unlocking Literacy: Exploring Resources for Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, and Spelling Instruction – Michele Jackson Join us for an engaging workshop where educators collaborate to explore effective resources for phonics, phonemic awareness, and spelling instruction. Bring your favorite tools and strategies to share, and work together to create a comprehensive resource list that supports literacy development in the classroom. Spanning from Primary to Intermediate students as well as K-12 intervention.

Understanding and Supporting Executive Function in the School Environment – Kim Hood In this session, we will: Define executive function and its core components, Explore how executive function develops in children and adolescents, Identify signs of executive function challenges, Discuss practical strategies and tools to support students with executive function deficits in the classroom.

Wayi Wah! Indigenous Pedagogies: An Act for Reconciliation and Anti-Racist Education – Ben Gehrels, Naomi Smedbol, and Julia Flesekar How can Indigenous knowledge systems inform our teaching practices and enhance education? How do we create an education system that embodies an anti-racist approach and equity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners? (Open to everyone registered with the book group with limited spots for others who may wish to join)

Leveraging Educational Technologies: Harness the Power of Technology and Tools for Classroom Success – Erin Collinson Discover how to effectively integrate educational technologies into your teaching practice. This session explores powerful tools and strategies to enhance learning and foster student engagement. Gain practical insights to harness technology for success in your classroom. Will have a guest speaker from spaces.edu to explore the spaces application for classrooms.
